For self-funding trainees the £9,000 fee is payable in the following instalments; £2,250 on the third Wednesday in October, £2,250 on the first Wednesday in February and £4,500 on the first Wednesday in May. Self-funding trainees who are eligible to receive an NCTL Bursary can request that the Tuition Fee is deducted from their Bursary payments. Self-funding trainees sign an agreement to adhere to the payment terms.

Tuition fees paid by the Student Loans Company, via a student loan, will be paid directly to the SCITT in October, February and May. Trainees will not be required to make re-payments to their Student Loan until after they are in employment and meet current regulations on earnings. Trainees funded by the Student Loans Company who fail to complete the course will not receive a reimbursement of fees already paid to the SCITT.

Bursary

As a general primary teacher, you could be eligible for a training bursary of £3,000 with a first or a PhD.

If you have a masters or a degree class of 2:1 or lower, bursaries are not available as a trainee primary teacher.

How you will be paid

If you’re eligible for a bursary, the payments will be processed automatically by the SCITT. These payments will be made in equal monthly instalments for the duration of your course; After this is confirmed Harefield SCITT will give details of how it will be paid.

Applicants with a degree from outside the UK should refer to this equivalency table to see if their degree is likely to attract a bursary. You can also check with any schools or universities you are considering applying to.

If you are not eligible for a bursary, you can still access standard student loans and/or grants to help fund your training.
